Maui Mango Mala Ohana
Smita Paul and Andre Hilden planted the first mango trees in 2018 and started the farm two years later. Smita is the founder of Indigo Handloom and is a lover of all things fresh and natural. Farming is a second career for Andre after 25 years in the tech industry. He studied permaculture techniques along with Smita before starting Maui Mango Mala.
James 'Kimo' Simpliciano came to farming after working as a chef. He grew up on farms in Oahu and managed a 10-acre farm in Lahaina. He created a natural farming certifcate program and is the former head of the natural farmers union.
Sunanda Dasa grew up on her father's vast farm in the Fiji Islands. She has spent decades working on various farms in Maui doing everything from hydroponic lettuce to medicinal herbs. She employs so much of the wisdom of farming from other parts of Polynesia.
Abha Krishna Paul is retired after working for 30 years at Hari Om Farms, a hydroponic farm she started with her husband in Tennessee specailizing in fine culinary herbs. She is a lifelong enthusiastic gardener.
